Human Resource Manager

Our client, MetalX, a growing metal recycling firm headquartered in Northeast Indiana is seeking a team-oriented HR professional to participate in the development and ongoing administration of HR related duties, including employee relations, policies, and employment related programs. You will support 150 employees in three locations. This position reports to the Administrative Manager and works closely with the executive and operating management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Communicates effectively with management and advises of situations beyond routine HR issues.
Handles employees in a professional manner and keeps all personnel and payroll related matters confidential.
Assists in the development, communication and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, and maintains the Employee Handbook.
Assists managers in creating and maintaining job descriptions for all positions.
Recruits for hourly positions including placing ads, screening of applications and interviews.
Conducts new hire testing, onboarding, orientation and support.
Coordinates insurance benefit administration, including enrollments and changes.
Conducts monthly meetings to communicate benefit information and other relevant company information to employees.
Assists with the management of the 401K administration.
Monitors and assists employees with FMLA claims.
Maintains employee files and HR information system records, and compiles reports from the database.
Provides concise and relevant information to management regarding regional wage surveys.
Administers the weekly payroll for hourly employees and oversees timekeeping policies.
Prepares monthly reporting on work force to assist management in making decisions in relation to established goals, and monitors the performance evaluation process for new hire introductory periods.
Facilitates the communication of various HR policies, procedures and regulations.
Responds to employee relation issues, such as employee questions regarding benefits, payroll, etc.
Represents the company for any unemployment claims.
Works closely with the EHS Manager on worker's compensation claims and other health and safety issues.
Advises management in matters of compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
Performs exit interviews and makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
Assists in planning and organizing employee events, i.e. company picnic, holiday party, etc.

General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
Experience in the administration of employee benefits, payroll and other HR Programs, including FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, 401K, EEO, AAP, ACA.
Excellent computer skills, including Word and Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment.
Skills in database management and recordkeeping.
Education and Experience
This position requires an Associates Degree in Human Resource Management or a minimum of 3 years experience in the Human Resources field in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
No relocation offered. Only local/commutable candidates.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
